Schwäbisch Gmünd, “Gmünder Pferdetag”, a local equine event with Sunday trading

Lorch, wild garlic festival in Kloster Lorch

Stuttgart Spring Festival
Spring is celebrated for three weeks on the “Stuttgarter Wasen” fairgrounds. 240 actors, hosts and market traders make sure there is plenty of fun and a good atmosphere. Every Wednesday is family day with reduced prices.

Göppingen, "Göppinger Maientag" (Göppingen May Day)
This traditional folk festival has been celebrated since 1650. Every year, special 
 highlights include the May Day singing on Friday evening and the historic parade on Saturday. The parade narrates the history of the Filstal valley and Göppingen’s history as the seat of the ancestral castle of the Hohenstaufen dynasty. (www.goeppingen.de)

Ludwigsburg Festival

When the traditional city festival is celebrated, the entire city centre becomes a festival site. A musical programme and all kinds of culinary treats are good reasons to spend time exploring Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Tübingen, "Stocherkahnrennen" (Punt Races) 
Wild, wet and fun: An annual punt race in the river Neckar for 40 teams. The competition is stiff: The loser must drink half a litre of cod liver oil and organise next year’s race.

Wäschenbeuren, Whitsun market
The antiques and flea market takes place annually on Whit Monday. With numerous stands, tasty treats and children’s entertainment.

Donzdorf, City Festival and Market on the castle grounds
On the last weekend before the summer holidays, the castle grounds and park are transformed into a colourful festival site. With stands hosted by a range of clubs and associations, a varied stage programme and the "Schlossgartenlauf", a fun race for all through the castle gardens. (www.donzdorf.de)

Ulm, "Schwörwoche" and "Fischerstechen" Festivals
The week-long "Schwörwoche" festival hosts a range of traditional events. On the Sunday evening, the Danube becomes a river of light when 10.000 lanterns are placed on the water. And every four years, the famous "Fischerstechen" festival is held – a tournament on the water with 16 duelling pairs who represent figures from Ulm’s history. Wäschenbeuren, Light Festival 
The Wäschenbeuren music association welcomes guests: Decorated with tea lights and fairy lights, the town becomes a magical setting for a music festival that ends with a firework display.

Göppingen, Staufer festival players
Professional, inspired and faithful – the motto of the Staufer festival players. The musical theatre not only brings in renowned artists from the region, but also ambitious amateurs such as school choirs and associations (www.staufer-festspiele.de)

Lorch, Historical Staufer Market

Stuttgart Folk Festival

Göppingen, Wine Festival 
At the start of the month, connoisseurs of regional wines come together at the marketplace to enjoy wines and culinary delights. A giant parasol not only protects visitors from the autumnal weather, but also creates a cosy atmosphere.
